In spite of the heavy rain warnings throughout the weekend, the weather did not keep motorsport enthusiasts away from Prescott for our first ever Motorsport Festival! An event where there was something on for everyone without having to walk far for high quality entertainment.

The Hill Climb was at full capacity going into the weekend with the usual Handicap classes for the Pre 1947s, Saloons, Sports and Racing Cars. BOC's very own Rally Car Championship and New Barn Speed Championship showcased some excellent competition along with the other invited championships, the MAC Sunrise Speed Championship and the HSA Woodford Trailers Speed Championship. Next was a large class for the Midland Speed Championship followed by the 7s Speed Series. Over the weekend, we were pleased to host four classes of the Lotus Seven Club Speed Championship who all raced with passion. Lastly the motorbikes were a real highlight of the meeting for many. They brought 7 classes and a NHCA Top 10 Runoff. Saturday Runoff honours went to Tommy Hodges on a Team GV KTM setting a 51.42 and Best Time of the Day on Saturday was Steven Potter in an Empire Evo who set a 42.61. Sunday saw the same classes but with the addition of the Bristol Motor Club MX5 Challenge. The Sunday NHCA Top 10 Runoff again went to Tommy Hodges with a quicker time of 47.12 and the overall Best Time of the Day for Sunday went to Chris Green in an OMS 28 setting an impressive 40.34. All results can be seen in the attachments further down the article.

Stroud & District Car Trials - Report by Stroud & District Motor Club

Stroud & District Motor Club ran a Taster Trial at the Motorsport Festival over the weekend. The event attract around 40 entrants over the two days. The Trial was a great success with all competitors & observers taking part in the right spirit of the weekend. There were 6 sections laid out by clerk of the course Mark Hobbs which were a mix of grassy field sections over looking the start of the Hill Climb track and sections in the woods next to the lane leading back to the paddock. Passenger rides were being given out to the public which everyone who participated enjoyed and opened new eyes to our grassroot motorsport. All profits went to the Air Ambulance charity which raised over £500!

Top 3 awards for the Trial on on Saturday:

3rd overall Richard Hayward - MK1 Escort

2nd overall Howard Stephens - Marlin

1st overall Carl Talbot – Citroen Saxo

Top 3 awards for the Trial on on Sunday:

3rd overall Paul Price – Liege

2nd overall Phil Buckle – Citroen Saxo VTR

1st overall Stephen Hoskins - Citroen C1

SWMC AutoSOLO - Report by Sixty and Worcestershire Motor Club

SWMC’s AutoSOLO was specifically laid out to provide a fun event to give seasoned campaigners a challenge, as well as allowing novices to develop their skills without being overwhelmed by complexity. It proved to be a good mix and a three way battle for the top spot soon developed and continued through the day. Meanwhile all the novices steadily improved, helped by experienced drivers taking time to sit in with the newcomers and pass on hints and tips. A minor course excursion by a very experienced crew held them back slightly whereas a throttle cable issue didn’t stop the eventual winner from triumphing. The lunch break allowed a short session of passenger rides to be given which we hope will spread the word about AutoSOLOs. At the end of the event there were smiles all round, not just on the faces of the award winners!

BTRDA Autotest - Report by Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire Car Club

Wolverhampton Car Club are pleased to have been part of the inaugural grassroots motorsport weekend promoting a variety of different disciplines. The BTRDA Prescott Autotest ran faultlessly throughout the day offering a total of sixteen driving tests followed by a 'just for fun' head to head run off, which proved to be very popular and was well received by the competitors and spectators alike. Fun, fast and fabulous! From WSSCC we say 'a very big THANK YOU to the Bugatti Owners Club for inviting us'!

StreetCar - Report by Motorsport UK

The weekend marked the first StreetCar Festival event of the summer. A mix of marques took part in the Touring Assembly, led by Venture Bound Motor Club, which ended their 30-mile route at Prescott, with passenger rides and a ‘punch-hunt’ style treasure hunt to spot the StreetCar mini also proving popular with attendees of all ages! Our Motorsport UK StreetCar team were out in full force and it was wonderful to share our passion for motorsport with the wider Hill Climb community – who we hope may have future StreetCar drivers in their midst. A huge thanks to Prescott and their team for welcoming us this weekend, and we look forward to welcoming you to our next event in August at Anglesey Autofest.

And to top off the action, visitors were treated to a flyover from the Air Ambulance on Saturday afternoon!
