You may remember last October we picked apples from the trees into The Orchard and turned the fruit into the first batch of Prescott Cider to sell in The Clubhouse.
Well, the cider proved incredibly popular and we have already sold out of the 2023 supplies!
We will shortly be announcing the 'pick date' for 2024 and asking for volunteers to assist, but in the meantime, if any Member or Supporter of the BOC and Prescott has their own apple trees with fruit which would go to waste, then why not consider donating it to the Club to be turned into the next batch of Prescott Cider?
We are looking for donations of Cider Apples, such as Dabinett, Yarlington Mill, Harry Masters’ Jersey, Chisel Jersey, Bulmer’s Norman and Stoke Red. We can also accept eating apples of any variety to put into the blend.
The apples you donate need to be ripe. The easiest way to tell if an apple is ready is to look at the pips; if the pips are 100% dark brown or black the fruit is ripe, if part of the pip is pale brown or white they need more time on the trees.Â
Sadly, we cant accept all apples. We don't need cooking apples such as Bramleys as they are too sharp and acidic for the cider. Likewise, we don't want rotten fruit either!
If you have apples you would like to donate then please contact the Club Office.
