MEMBERS MEETING - EVENT DETAILS ANNOUNCED

Competitive hill climb action returns to Prescott on Saturday with the Members Meeting featuring not only the Bugatti Owners’ Club’s own series but also one of the leading single make Speed Championships in the UK.

The Fassi Speed Championship has attracted a strong entry in both the pre 1977 category and the newly introduced pre 1986 class with saloons, sports cars and racing cars all competing. Among them will be title sponsors Fassi UK’s own Fiat Abarth 695 SS.

The series has reached its mid-way point with Saturday being the sixth round, out of ten and other cars entered include the rally inspired Ford Escort RS 1600 of Simon Braithwaite which replicates the livery of the car used by British rallying Great Russell Brookes on the Lombard RAC Rally and the rare Fairthorpe Electron sportscar of Chris Jones.

The Club’s New Barn RS Interclub Speed Championship caters for both expert and novice drivers with the cars entered ranging from the Renault Twingo of Rob Gutteridge and the Skoda Citigo of William Risk through to the Subaru Sti of Mike Dockery and the Porsche Boxster of Tom Mogyorossy.

The salon car category of the Bugatti Owner Club Handicap will feature the unique Rover Mitsu-Metro 6R4 replica of Peter Knights along with some slightly more common place machinery such as the three cylinder Ford Fiesta STLine driven by Andrew Till and Renault 5 GT Turbo Coupe driven by Johnny Hulme.

In the sports car category James Dockery will be looking to make the most of the V8 power of his Westfield SEight while Tim Jeffrey will be in action in his distinctive Renault Alpine GTA LM. Geoffrey Hill will be out in his earlier Alpine A110.

Smallest of the racing cars competing is the 600c motorcycle engined Nemesis HC92 of Dennis Bissell while the OMS 3000 of Nigel Pitt also features a motorcycle power plant but this time a one litre unit.

Another car to look out for is the spaceframe Maguire Mini Cooper S driven by Derek Kessell in the Downton Motor Club Speed Championship.

The Porsche Club Speed Championship with NINEMEISTER offers four classes for the German Sportscars and all four current class leaders are scheduled to compete this weekend with David Dyson in his Porsche 992 GT3, Ian Wadsworth in his 911SC/RS, Wayne Esson at the wheel of his Boxster and Stephen Joy running his Porsche 944.

No Prescott meeting would be complete, of course, without Bugattis competing and this weekend will see the early Type 13 Brescia of Rupert Marks taking to the hill along with the Type 35A of Mark De Ferranti and Type 35 GP of Yushan NG. Also competing will be the Type 51s of Colin Bullock and current Bugatti hill record holder Edmund Burgess.

Action on Saturday will get underway at 8.30am with admission for adults being £12 in advance or £15 on the day. Accompanied children under 16 and Bugatti Owners Club members will be admitted free of charge. Camping is also available, for £10 per night.
