TREESCAPING AT PRESCOTT

Gemma Price - BOC GM

Sunday saw 300 trees planted within the Prescott Estate by a team of volunteers as part of Gloucestershire's Treescaping initiative.

These trees, guards and supports were provided by GCC to the BOC as part of the national Emergency Treescaping programme which has been setup by DEFRA to increase tree planting and natural regeneration in non-woodland areas. The fund is part of the Government’s Nature for Climate Fund and will directly contribute to achieving the UK's ambitious tree planting targets.

The fund will help the nation build back greener from the pandemic and will target landscapes that have been neglected in the past, ecologically damaged or affected by tree diseases like ash dieback – with ash being the most common species of tree found in non-woodland locations.

At Prescott we have made a small but important contribution to this national effort and we look forward to seeing the trees mature over the coming years.
