CLUB & MIDLAND HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING DETAILS ANNOUNCED

Prescott is destined for a feast of high-speed action this weekend (13/14 July) with the Bugatti Owner’s Club organising a Club Meeting on Saturday followed by a round of the hugely competitive Midland Hillclimb Championship on Sunday.


In addition to the various BOC series, Saturday’s action will also feature rounds of the BARC Speed Championship. Classic Marques Speed Challenge and the MG Car Club Speed Championship.


Among the saloon cars in action in the BOC and Allcomers Handicap across the weekend will be the Renault 5 GT Turbo Coupe of Johnny Hulme, John Barbers classic Fiat Abarth 850TC Nurburgring and a brace of BMW M3s in the hands of Steven Atkins and Paula-Larisa Dragusanu.


Cars taking to the hill in the sports car category include a trio of Westfields plus the historic Allard J2 of Christopher Pring and Howard Harman’s MG TC while the race cars in action will include Pilbeams, Goulds, various OMS models and Dominic Hentall’s unique Lancia Aurelia.

Saturday’s field for the New Barn RS Interclub Speed Championship will feature the usual strong field of in both the expert and novice class with saloon, sports and race cars in action.


The BARC Speed Championship features a similarly varied field of sports and saloon cars varying from Fiat Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory of David Garnett to the Jaguar F-Type R of Wayne Stirling.


There is a strong field of MX5s entered for the Classic Marques Speed Challenge but other entries include a variety of TVR and Porsche models.


There is, of course, only one marque competing in the MG Car Club Speed Championship but the models competing represent much of the famous make’s history. They include the MG PA of James Burmester, through the TC of Dave Morris to the TF 160s of Martin Chivers and Nigel Pratten.


The legendary Bugattis taking to the hill will include the Type 51s of Edmund Burgess and Colin Bullock and the Type 40 shared by Thomas and Peter Dewhurst.


Competitors in the Classic Marques Speed Challenge will take to the hill once again on Sunday along with those taking part in the BOC and Allcomers Handicap. They will be joined by competitors in the highly popular Midland Hillclimb Championship, The Championship was founded in 1980 and feature rounds at Prescott along with Loton Park and Shelsley Walsh.


The three classes for production road cars will feature a healthy entry including the Jaguar E-Type of John Harding, Simon Tarling’s Porsche 996 GT3 and the Porsche Cayman shared by Robbie Birrell and Mark Lawrence.


The specialist production car category features a whole host of Westfield and Caterham models while among the modified cars taking to the hill will be Nigel Elliott’s TR7-V8 and the Porsche 911 RSR of Paul Howells.


A particularly strong field of single seater race cars include a number of models from hillclimb car specialists Empire and fellow specialists Force along with OMS as they approach the 40th anniversary of their founding in 1985.


Another famous marque represented will be Pilbeam while the historic Brabham BT21 of Martin Jones will also be competing.


Action gets underway from 8.30am each day with advanced daily tickets available for £12 Saturday and £18 Sunday. Admission on the gate is £15 and £20 respectively. Under 16s and members of the Bugatti Owners Club will be admitted free of charge each day.
