HILL CLIMB SEASON FINALE - DETAILS UNVEILED

india2317

Championship titles and class honours aplenty will be up for grabs at Prescott Hill Climb this weekend (Oct 5/6) as the Bugatti Owners’ Club hold their Season Finale. The club’s own series will be joined by a variety of visiting championships to ensure an entertaining weekend of action.

The newly introduced Class 4 of the Fassi Classic Speed Championship has already been settled in favour of Clive Berry in his Chrysler Sunbeam 1600Ti but the three remaining classes have still to be settled on Saturday.

Alistair Clark heads Class 1 for pre 1977 saloon cars by just three points in his Triumph Vitesse from Mini driver Matt Clarke but also still in contention are Simon Braithwaite driving a Ford Escort RS1600 and Leigh Carter at the wheel of a Fiat 695SS Abarth.

Topping the table in Class 2, for Pre 1977 Sports Cars is Oliver Slater driving a Ginette G15 but he holds just a three point advantage over Dominic Cheater in his Porsche 914 while in Class 3 for single seaters and sports racing cars, Ben Fisher has just a two point advantage over fellow Mallock driver Christopher Wigdor.

The New Barn RS Interclub Speed Championship sees the top two positions overall held by drivers from the novice category. The contenders will be in action on Sunday with Fiesta ST150 driver Mike Brakes holding a seven point advantage over Chris McQueen driving a GBS Zero sports car.

Top expert category driver Jonathan Elwood, in a Honda Civic Type R, meanwhile, goes into the weekend 12 points ahead of Richard Morris driving a Mazda MX5.

Both days will see drivers competing for the Bugatti Owners’ Club and All Comers Handicap with current Bugatti hill record holder Edmund Burgess opting to compete in his slightly newer Gould GR55. Jonathan Evans and Kevin Creaven will be sharing a Pilbeam MP88 while the saloon and sports car categories have both attracted strong entries,

Four different Bugatti models will be in action in the Bugatti/Williams Monaco Trophy Cars Handicap.

Competitors from the 500 Owners Association will be tackling the hill on both days with another strong entry dominated by Coopers although there will be a variety of other ex-Formula 3 cars in action as well.

The CSA Services Group Ferrari Hilllclimb Championship reaches its 2024 season conclusion this weekend with Rob Samuels in his Ferrari 458 Speciale just heading the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 of Iwan Attwood.

The Aston Martin Owners’ Club Speed Championship visits Prescott on Saturday while Sunday sees the Bugatti Owners’ Club hosting the Allard Owners’ Club along with the MSCC Techniques Speed Championship, open to the various Morgan Sports Car models, the Triumph TR Register Speed Championship and the National Historic Speed Championship.

Action will get underway at 8:30 am each day with spectator admission costing £12 in advance or £15 on the day. Bugatti Owners Club members and under 16s are admitted free of charge. More information and advanced booking are available at prescotthillclimb.co.uk.
