PRE-WAR HANDICAP CLASSES ANOUNCED FOR PRESCOTT SPEED HILL CLIMB 2022 SEASON

The Bugatti Owners’ Club, owners and operators of Prescott Speed Hill Climb, has announced an additional members’ handicap class for the 2022 season, specifically to encourage pre-1947 cars to take to their historic hill. Prescott has hosted members’ handicap saloon, sports and racing classes for many years, and the new pre-1947 class will add to this popular way to compete in hill climbing. This addition to the competition calendar is a result of feedback received from competitors looking for a specific class in which to enter their pre-war machines. The BOC and Prescott have a long-standing affiliation with pre-war cars, as the hill climb was originally founded in 1938 with the first ever hill record being set by Ian Craig in his Type 18 Bugatti ‘Black Bess’ at 55.58 seconds. Pre-war cars have competed at several events each year ever since, with this historic venue on the Cotswolds borders hosting events for cars ranging from Austin 7’s to Gould GR59s and everything in between, including four rounds of the British Hill Climb Championship. All pre-1947 cars are accepted, with classes being hosted at no less than seven events over the season. Competitors will be required to be members of the BOC to be eligible to enter. Pre-war Handicap Class Events 9th April – Pre-season Test Day 14th May – Prescott Mini Fest 28th May – Prescott Historique 18th June – Porsche at Prescott 19th June – Mid-Summer Club Meeting 2nd July – Member’ Meeting 23rd July – Club Meeting
