Motor sport enthusiasts can look forward to two days of high-speed action this weekend (22/23 July) as Prescott Hill climb plays host to two days of competition organised by the Bugatti Owners’ Club.
Saturday’s club meeting will see a wide variety of machinery in action including competitors from the Pirelli Ferrari Speed Championship along with a variety of historic 500cc formula three machinery in which great drivers such as Stirling Moss first made their name.
Other classic car drivers will be vying for points in the Triple M HSA Speed Championship and the Classic Marques Speed Championship.
Also on hand will be competitors in the BARC Connaught Speed Championship along with competitors taking part in the following day’s Midland Speed Championship round.
It is the second visit of the year to Prescott for competitors in the Midland Hill Climb Championship and Sunday’s event has attracted a strong field with HSA Speed Championship and Classic Marques contenders also on hand for a second day. Also in action will be a number of the wonderful historic Bugattis with which Prescott is synonymous.
The sports car classes of the Midland Hill Climb Championship have attracted an interesting array of road going machinery including the rapid Alfa Romeo 4C of Rodney Eyles and a wide variety of Porsches.
The Westfield and Caterham specialist sportscars always have a close battle and Richard Price will face strong opposition as he aims to repat the class win that he took in his Caterham 7 back in April.
A wide variety of specialist hill climb machinery produced by OMS, Force and Empire will duke it out for top honours among the small engined single seaters.
Altogether, more than 40 single seaters drivers will be in action on the day and among them will be regular Bugatti pilot Edmund Burgess who will be driving his modern Gould GR55, one of four in action this weekend. Add in a four litre Pilbeam and two OMS cars and we look set for a fierce battle for Best Time of the Day.
Visitors to Prescott can expect a full programme of action each day with practice from 08.30am followed by the all-important timed runs. Tickets are available in advance for £12 for Saturday’s club meeting with accompanied under 16s admitted free. Advance tickets for Sunday’s Midland Championship meeting are £18. Once again, accompanied under 16s are admitted free of charge.
As ever, a full range of refreshments and meals will be available at the Prescott Clubhouse and various outlets around the Hill.
